Who is the Buddhist monk that blesses your product?

Our monk's name is Bhante Saranapala, known around the world (and on Instagram!) as The Urban Buddhist Monk (@urban_buddhist_monk). Bhante is a fully ordained monk and has been practicing and teaching the ways of the Buddha since he was seven years old. Through his foundations, Kindaful Canada and Kindful USA, Bhante travels the world to places like Bangladesh to spread positivity, help underprivileged children, and to teach the world about the power of Buddhism, blessings, and positive thought.

What is the purpose of the blessing on your products?

We believe in the power of positive affirmation on water, matter, and ourselves. The basis of the idea of having our products blessed stems from the research of the famous Japanese scientist, Dr. Masaru Emoto, who studied the effects of prayer and positive thoughts on water at the molecular level.

Dr. Emoto's experiment (in a nutshell!) profiled the molecular structure of water crystals before and after a blessing by a zen Buddhist monk. First, he placed various words with different energies on labels and affixed them to ordinary water from the Fujiwara Dam in Japan. Some bottles had labels that read positive affirmations like "love", "peace", and the Chinese symbol for the Chi of Love. Other labels read negative affirmations like "hate", "death" and "sadness".

He then froze the water so that ice crystals would form, revealing the true shape of the water at the molecular level. The water crystals that received negative affirmations had very little structure to them when placed under a microscope, but the ones that received positive affirmations crystallized into beautiful, ornate structures that resembled the complexity and beauty of a snowflake. The most powerful transformations of the water were the samples that were blessed by a Buddhist monk. The philosophy of Buddhism is all about positivity, manifestation, happiness, and being kind (among many other meaningful mantras), and the water responded.

The theory behind this research is -- if our thoughts can do this to water... imagine what our thoughts can do to us? We as humans are 90% water. Think about it!

For more information on Dr. Emoto and his research, check out his book "The Miracle of Water".

The blessing will mean different things to different people. To some, we hope it truly inspires their ability to mindfully connect with themselves on a deeper level -- where each time you spray our Icelandic Glacier Water, or each time you use our Frozé Body Scrub, you are truly reminded of the intentions within each of these products' blessings. To others, it may be more of a fleeting thought within their skincare regimen and everyday life. Either way, we hope the message behind each blessing resonates with you on some level.

Do I have to be a Buddhist to benefit from blessed skincare?

Definitely not! Remember, Buddhism is not a religion -- it's a philosophy, or a way of life. Whether or not you're familiar with the practices and principles of Buddhism, everyone can enjoy Dew of the Gods. If it inspires you to learn more about this way of life -- that's a bonus ;)

Are all of your blessings filmed? Where can I watch them?

Our initial blessing for the launch of our Icelandic Glacier Water Facial Spray with our monk was filmed, and is featured on a highlight on our Instagram called 'The Blessing'. We're not entirely sure if we'll film every single blessing with our monk, since we do want to try to maintain a level of sacredness to ensure that each blessing stays focused and grounded. If our customers ask us to continue sharing each blessing in a significant way, we will definitely consider it.

How often/when are the products blessed?

Each time we receive a new shipment of inventory, or each time we launch a new product, a blessing will be scheduled to take place at Dew HQ.

Where in Iceland does your Glacier Water come from?

Our water comes from a 5000 year old glacier in Ölfus, Iceland. The water is filtered through ancient lava rock via natural osmosis, leaving them with an extremely high degree of purity. Our water contains 65PPM (Parts Per Million). This means that for every 1,000,000 molecules within the water, only 65 are something other than pure H2O. For comparison, regular bottled drinking water can have over 1000 parts per million. Don't even get us started on tap water! Since water is over 95% of the ingredients in our Glacier Water Thermal Spray, we take its excellence very seriously.

Are your products tested on animals?

Absolutely not! Fun fact: at Dew HQ, there's a wild bunny that lives in our bushes. We named him Remy, and he's been with us for over a year!

Refunds & Exchanges

Because our products are cosmetic in nature, and because customer safety is our top priority, we do not accept refunds products that have been opened from their original packaging. Please note the following product-specific rules regarding refunds and exchanges:

  • Our Icelandic Glacier Water Thermal Spray has three layers of safety seals. On the can itself, the cloud point (the circle where the product sprays from) is mechanically sealed shut, and will not spray until you press down hard on the spray for the first time. It will also arrive to you shrink-wrapped in plastic. If either of these safety seals are broken, we will NOT provide a refund, no exceptions. The product comes inside of a cardboard, cylindrical box that is sealed by a holographic dew drop sticker. If this sticker is removed or damaged, a 20% restocking fee will be applied to qualifying refunds.
  • Our Frozé Body Scrub has one locking safety seal around its black plastic nozzle. If the safety seal is open (i.e. if the sprout tetra-pack is opened), we will NOT provide a refund, no exceptions.

If your product arrives damaged or defective, please email us at hello@dew.co to set up an exchange. In order to receive an exchange, you must send us a photo (or video if required) of the product and the associated damage. In the unlikely event that your product arrives damaged (due to shipping) or defective, you must send the original product back to Dew Beauty, Inc. - the customer will be responsible for cost to ship the product back to us (we recommend providing a tracking code). Once we receive the defective product, we will exchange it for a new one, postage paid. If you would like to receive a refund for unopened/undamaged goods, you must first ship the product back to Dew Beauty, Inc.

Once your order is placed, we cannot change/cancel/adjust your order. All sales are final.

What is your shipping policy?

We offer free shipping on all USA and Canada orders. We ship WORLDWIDE! All international orders are subject to a flat rate of $15 per order.

Please allow 2-5 business days for order processing and handling before your order is shipped out. For Canada orders, please allow up to 5 additional business days for shipping. For USA orders, please allow up to 7 additional business days for shipping. For international orders, please allow up to 10 additional business days for shipping. Note that we aim to exceed these timeframes significantly, but many aspects of shipping are out of our control.

Please note that due to Covid-19, we are unable to guarantee shipping timeframes. We do not provide refunds due to shipping exceptions/delays.

Will my order incur duties/customs fees/taxes/tariffs?

If you are ordering within the USA or Canada, it is very unlikely that your order will incur duties and taxes, especially if it's under $200. However, we cannot guarantee that your order will not incur additional taxes, duties, or other shipping/customs fees. We will not reimburse customers who are subject to these fees, and we will not provide a refund for this reason. International customers must determine any expected fees prior to ordering.
